Aqualung has announced a futuristic new integrated product line combining a new ‘electronic and connected’ regulator: the Aquasense alongside a slightly more conventional dive computer and companion App.
The announcement, unusually for a diving manufacturer, was made at the consumer technology event CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The new regulator also picked up a Best of Innovation title at the event.
The Aquasense may signal a shift into a more connected form of diving.
Features
On the surface the Aquasense doesn’t appear to have any singular novel feature. It combines a regulator and a tank transmitter albeit in a sleek, futuristic design. Familiar features that have been around for a number of years.
However, it is the first to seamlessly integrate them into a single package.
There is a single line in the announcement that caught my attention: ‘Aquasense keeps the diver connected to their dive group and the surface’. The Aquasense will feed real time information to buddies and the surface. It could be a game changer and the USP for the regulator.
I’m fascinated to see if it delivers as the wireless transmission of data underwater is notoriously hard over any sort of distance. Full details aren’t yet available so we will have to wait and see exactly how it is implemented.

It’s a striking piece of kit. It looks like a standard regulator’s had a make over at an Apple Store, complete with LED accent lights. Launching the Aquasense at CES may have been the most appropriate choice.
The Aquasense is joined by the new Pulsa dive computer and an accompanying Aqualung App. Less details are available for the pair but they are expected to be fully connected into a single ecosystem.
Final Thoughts
There is no shortage of superlatives in the press release: disruptive, next generation, connected. Interestingly, they’re all terms more familiar to the tech industry than diving.
I’ve previously discussed the technologies that transformed diving and I’m excited to see some genuine innovation in aggregating key features with a new brave design aesthetic. There are still gaps in exactly how all this will work in practice but it sounds promising.
I’m caught in two minds about increasing the connectivity of diving. It could certainly increase safety but could it also foster over-reliance? Diving is also a wonderful escape from the modern world of vibrating alerts and notification and I’m not sure I want them following me underwater.
We’ll have to wait until later in the year for the product to be properly reviewed to see if Aqualung have delivered on their futuristic ambition.
